We understand that to create a vibrant nursery, you must have motivated and enthusiastic people.
We have a dedicated and professional staff team who take great pride in being part of our group. All the staff play a big part in making the experience special for your child, and they are encouraged to share their ideas and have an active role in the planning and feedback process.
All of our staff will record observations and support your child while they are at nursery. In addition, they will be assigned a key worker who will have an overview of their development and will be your point of contact at parents’ meetings. Our staff ratios are higher than the standard expected, as we believe that this is the best way to ensure good quality childcare.
Our staff are qualified in childcare and attend regular staff development training, as well as being encouraged to take additional learning opportunities where they can. They can access a broad range of training, from first aid to forest schooling, and we believe this is important to keep our staff continually learning and engaged in developing their skills.
Children’s safety is a major priority in the staff continuing development from risk assessment of trips through to food allergies, and we take care to ensure the staff have a broad understanding of all the factors necessary to keep the children safe and well.
We welcome all children to Tom Thumb, and recognise there may be children who require some additional support for learning. We will work with parents and carers to support their child’s individual needs, and are able to call on a wide variety of specialists if required, for example in speech and language or psychological support.
As a charity, the group has a voluntary Board of trustees, who oversee the financial and strategic management of the group in order to ensure funds are being used to provide the highest standards of care.
